Movie Review: 'Everest' - An Oscar Winning Film

Everest movie 2015

At 8.848 meters above sea level Everest is the world’s largest mountain, the death rate two decades ago was 1-4, the human spirit is to approve each increase, the will and courage to every man and woman trying to climb this mountain is incalculable, but the events of May 1996 stated that nature has the last word.

Baltasar Kormákur directs this written by William Nicholson duo Simon Beaufoy and tape. The trio tells the story of adventurous men in a slow and experiential way. From the first act begin to educate viewers about the dangers and consequences of climbing the highest mountain, and therefore more deadly in the world. His characters are marked as character clichés; the daring, the adventurous, the cowardly and defeated, etc. For the second act desarrolo changed dramatically increases stress.

The cast is top quality starting with Josh Brolin who plays the expert mountaineer Doug Hansen, the actor is recovering at a slow pace from its disastrous involvement in “Men in Black 3” to inject energy and gives a basis to his character. Jason Clarke plays meanwhile Rob Hall, the head of the group, their performance is the best, that explains why is the heart of great franchises such as Terminator, The Planet of the Apes, Gatsby, etc.

We can not forget Jake Gyllenhaal, Oscar nominee Jake Hawkes until very absent Sam Worthington, plus a powerful but less participatory female cast as Emily Watson, Keira Knightley and Robin Wright.

Another striking detail is the amazing photography Salvatore Totino, who impressively exploited this mountain landscapes, the color palette is rich and varied, a very risky proposal which generally films of this kind we are accustomed to their duo colors and drawings General nauseum.

Everest is not a heart sensitive tape or the next adventure, is a strong and direct to the dangers of mountaineering delivery. Fears, limitations and tiredness can be overcome by the simple desire to survive at any cost.
